Well, hello there. I’m so happy you’re here.
I’m Courtney O’Rourke, also known as “@CourtneyO” on the social web and “storymaker” in the marketing world. My specialty is in uncovering and delivering the stories that drive a manufacturing business’s production and its success.
I’m a writer. I’m a content strategist. I’m a fanatical advocate of products worth noticing.
How I got here.
I spent the first 15 years of my career on the logistical side of the manufacturing/production realm. Having worked with three different jewelry design companies and a sporting goods manufacturer, I saw firsthand how these companies struggled with their own stack of manufacturing, design, marketing and product fulfillment challenges, while simply trying to stay alive.
I stood by as a 100-year-old company laid off 90% of its workforce and transitioned a manufacturing process from a 100% US-based operation, to a China-based industrial workhorse. I directed product shipments from China, India, the Philippines and the Czech Republic and watched as the quality of the product quickly diminished.
Today, I focus on combining my experience in manufacturing with my passion for storytelling.
It’s these experiences that drive me to help brands, small businesses, makers and artisans keep producing the finest quality they can through insightful communications. Since 2008 I have moved away from the operations side of manufacturing and moved toward the creative side. I have worked with a variety of agencies and independent businesses to produce content, manage communities, and develop fruitful marketing strategies.
Now that you know more about me, I’d love to know more about you. Whether you consider yourself a maker, producer, manufacturer, or crafter in the Denver area or elsewhere, I’m available for a cup of coffee, Google Hangout, or even a quick Twitter chat.Ellen Daehnick aka Helliemae]
