Taste: Slaw
Hello to you and hello 2016.
As I set out to do more, cook more, sleep more, read more, write more (thanks, Clare ) and be here more this year, I thought a recipe would be a delightful way to begin. Here’s the first of my “greatest hits” from 2015.

A slaw recipe that can be whatever you need it to be. Start with the base, and add in whatever flavors you like, or whatever is in your fridge that you need to make quick use of. I’ve come to realize that many of my greatest hits dishes follow the same principle – make it whatever you need it to be.


Ingredients
Red Cabbage- about 1/4 head
Green Cabbage – 1/2 head
Grated Carrots- your choice
Garbanzo Beans- 1 can
Zest of 1 Lemon
Juice of 2 Lemons
2 or 3 hearty glugs of Olive Oil
1 smidge of sweet- honey, brown sugar, maple syrup, agave
Salt & Pepper to taste

Preparation 
Thinly slice cabbage. Toss with all remaining ingredients.

Make It Yours
Some popular variations that I’ve tried: diced jalapeno, edamame, toasted cashews, red pepper.
